Remember how I was struggling with the cookies? Well this week I am doing better!
I went to a get together at a friend's house and the invite she'd sent said, "Bring a snack to share." People brought fruit with creamy sugary dips, cookies, brownies, chips w/fatty savory dips, various candies & foil wrapped chocolates, and one of my favorite, hard-to-say-no-to treats, peanut m&m's--a huge bowl, right in the middle of all these other temptations. I know myself and know that if I am standing close to the treat table and I start eating peanut m&m's, it will be hard to stop. So instead I took stock of everything sitting there. I had been logging my food all day; I could afford to have a treat. So I chose this delectable fruit and brownie k-bob. Fresh berries, and little brownie bites attractively skewered onto a k-bob stick. I put it on a plate, took my bottle of water and walked away while I ate it and chatted. I returned to the treat area just before leaving and counted out a small handful of m&m's and ate them on my way out the door. I enjoyed those treats, but I enjoyed even more that I could have the pleasure of them without over-doing it.
