Week 1 Reports!

Tomorrow it's time to send reports. I'd like you to report each section eligible for points. It should look something like this. Initially I said let's do one number for measurements, but there were so many mistakes with totals and such, that I think it will be better if you send me all your numbers. You're still going to do the math, but then I can double check for you and see where your losses are happening & make sure it's accurate. To figure your points you'll have to keep track anyway, so I hope the extra few minutes to type it out for me won't be too annoying. Also let me know how you did on your personal goal and what your new personal goal is going to be this week at the bottom.

Here are my projected totals for the week as an example:

My personal goal this week was to have personal scripture study 20 minutes a day. I know that doesn't seem like it relates to my physical health, but I find if I am staying on top of those things everything goes more smoothly. As you can see from my points that only happened 3 days. I did quick reads, read with my kids, but still didn't get those concentrated 20 minutes like I was hoping for. So, this week I am having that as my personal goal again.

Don't hesitate to contact me with any questions.

Hello, my name is Kara and I love sweets

Hi all, my name is Kara and I am really excited to do this challenge. I am a mom of 4 and am trying to shed some poundsand inches before I turn 30. I absolutley love homemade baked goods. From cookies to rice crispy treats, to homemade cinnomon caramel popcorn. I am trying to cut out carbs. It is really hard.

Out to Eat

I love going out to lunch or dinner with friends. The problem is that since I live in Utah, there is no required nutritional information on menus. I have to ask for it and then it's only 50/50 the server will know where to look or who to ask - they always look confused by the request. They look at me like I am a moron - I've even had snarky comments in return (their tip just went out the window!). Most chain restaurants post the nutritional information online. So...it's important to do your research before you go to the restaurant. I have to decide before I get there what I am going to order. Once I'm in the restaurant I am at their mercy as all the delicious looking and fattening food passes by me to other tables. Certain places like Cheesecake Factory REFUSE to post their nutritional info online. Well, thankfully there are some states like New York that require it by law so other people who care (like all of us) have taken the time to post it somewhere on the web. You can usually still find it online just not on the restaurant's web site. If you are going out to eat, do your research in advance. Just because it's a salad doesn't mean it's low in fat and calories. Don't believe me? Look up the Quesadilla Explosion Salad at Chili's. It has 1360 calories. That's pretty much all you'd get to eat that day if you order it. Their burgers are only 100-300 more calories...crazy!

Measuring Cups & Spoons

Hey Ladies! We're nearing the end of our first week of competition. I hope you've been doing great. I can already see results in how this accountability is helping me.

Since we've all set a calorie budget for each day and we have a goal to stay within it, we should all start seeing results right away. However we sometimes make the mistake of assuming we know how much food we're eating. When I start being really careful about my food intake I keep my measuring cups and spoons out on the counter all the time. I also read labels, count crackers, and look things up multiple times a day. Though it is sometimes tedious, the pounds generally start moving in the right direction.

Here's a good article I found this week about how many of us underestimate the amount of food we consume and some added encouragement to measure your food.

I don't have a food scale, but I am hoping for one for Christmas.

Any other tips in this area? Share in the comments section!

Highlight on Hydration!

http://www.eatingwell.com/nutrition_health/nutrition_news_information/why_drink_water Not only does keeping hydrated stave off hunger; it has lots of benefits!

Check out the above link to read more about how drinking enough water benefits your body!

Ditto to Elise . . .I have definitely been spending more time in the bathroom lately. However, since reading this article I think of it as a mini cleanse every time.

Kudos

Kudos to Heather for putting 'it' all out there for accountability. I am excited for all of us to see so many results for all our hard work! I don't know about all of you, but I am running to the bathroom quite often lately!!! Hope everyone is doing well! We are nearing the half way mark of our first week!!

Heather's Accountability

You are all accountable to me, so I have decided I will be accountable to all of you with measurements and weight each week.

Also, as an example I want to show you my measurements. Because several of you missed the instruction about sending me one number for the week for inches or made a mistake with your addition, perhaps only adding the measurement for one arm, instead of both.

I will show you all my measurements below and then add them together. Each week when you send your reports back to me, you'll only send your weight and the one number of all inches added together.

My starting weight is 165.7
Waist-32.75
Hips-43.25
Chest-36.5
R. thigh-25
L. thigh-25
R. calf-15.75
L. calf-15.5
R. arm-12.25
L. arm-12.25
Total inches 211.25

A shout out to those of you who have already paid (I received some cash & some checks in the mail):
Sariah
Elise
Tamara
Emily
Heidi

On the ball girls! The rest of you have until this Friday, November 9th.

And to those of you who included an, "I'm embarrassed" or "ouch" or ":(" next to your initial report, I just want to reiterate that there's absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about! You are making steps in the right direction. You are where you are and you've decided to move forward. So, pat yourself on the back and be happy!
